Celebrating 50 Years of The Marsha J. Corprew Memorial Garden Center

The City of Oakland's Office of Parks and Recreation, is excited to be celebrating 50 Years of the Lakeside Park Garden Center. Join us the first weekend in June for the official ceremonial celebration of one of Oakland's best kept secrets. Activities will include garden demonstrations, displays, educational sessions and a variety of shows. The Bonsai and Sensory gardens are not to be missed! We hope you will be able to join us!

Oakland Fine Arts summer school

Oakland Fine Arts Summer School 2009 (OFASS) is a successful artistic collaboration between the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) morning arts program and the City of Oakland, Office of Parks and Recreation (OPR) afternoon art studios sessions. OFASS offers arts programming for students currently enrolled and attending Kindergarten through 5th grade as of April 2009.

This year's theme is "Arts Around the World in 19 Days." For a total experience of the Arts.

The Great American Backyard Campout

Experience Family Fun in the Outdoors @ The Great American Backyard Campout

Oakland Parks and Recreation and the National Wildlife Federation invite Oakland families, friends and neighbors to come campout overnight at The Great American Backyard Campout at Joaquin Miller Park! Take a hike, enjoy nature activities, sing around the campfire - experience family fun in the great outdoors! Includes dinner, camp snacks and continental breakfast.

No pets, radios, kerosene lanterns or cooking gear.
