Lakeside Demonstration Gardens inside Lakeside Park within Lake Merritt 666 Bellevue Avenue, Oakland, California 94610 (510) 238-2197 The Lakeside Demonstration Gardens serves not only as a garden but as a valuable resource to the community. The garden itself is surrounded a variety of beautiful plants, herbs, vegetables and trees. The peaceful environment of the garden is relaxing and an oasis to escape to from urban living. It includes a Japanese garden, rhododendron, fuchsia, cactus, lily herb, iris, palm, fire escape, city, vegetable, compost, herb gardens and a koi pond. The Demonstration Garden showcases a variety of different species of plants in a natural setting. Resting adjacent to the vegetable garden is a butterfly flower garden and inviting bench, across from the garden are majestic trees that shade a small waterfall and a natural bench carved from stone.
