Our youth programs and Summer Day Camps help kids learn to safely explore the water, which is, after all, a tremendous part of their environment living here in the bay area. We would like to invite you, your family and your friends to sail, dragonboat, kayak, canoe, or row at the lake. We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes.
If you're adventurous and want advanced conditions, the Lake Merritt Boating Center offers sailing on the San Francisco Bay from the Oakland Estuary.

Lake Merritt is the largest man-made salt-water tidal lake in the United States. We are proud of our urban boating center at the lake, which adds a wonderful resource to one of Oakland's premier places to enjoy picnicking, walking, jogging, and bird watching. Lake Merritt is located on the Pacific Flyway and is the oldest bird refuge in the country.
