Junior Sailing Team
We are looking for enthusiastic teenagers that are committed to attending weekly practices and participating in regattas.

Lake Merritt Boating Center is looking for sailors interested in racing on the Junior Sailing Team. All 8th ~ 12th grade sailors are invited to try out. There is absolutely no charge for the tryout and there is no initial commitment necessary. Program costs are only $210 for 90 hours of instruction - A Great Deal!

Prior Sailing Experience Required: Sailors should have mastered the fundamentals of sailing and be able to sail a high-performance single-handed dinghy (BYTE or Laser) around a course.

The Team
The Sea Wolves are the pinnacle of our youth programs. After students successfully complete Intermediate Sailing Class, and are in school grades 8th ~ 12th, we encourage you to join our Racing Team. Any young person with basic sailing skills (being able to control a high performance dingy around a race course) is invited to attend tryouts.

Our Course
Commitment and hard work will be the building blocks for all of those involved; participants and coaches alike. The Sea Wolves have an opportunity to compete at regattas against other clubs and high schools. Coach Dan Ouellet is an American Sailing Association (ASA) certified instructor and has competed at a National Level aboard FJs, El Toros, Bytes, Lasers, and JY-15s. He has coached sailing in the Bay Area for many years.

Format
The Team will have three seasons: Fall, Spring and Summer, each season consisting of approximately 10 weeks.

Fee
Each session includes 90 hours of instruction for a fee of $210. Scholarships are available for those Oakland residents in need of financial assistance.
