The Sports Department strives to provide innovative city-wide programs, services, activities and classes for adults (18 and over) throughout Oakland, that range from basketball to football, for beginners to members on a league. The programs promote health, fitness, commitment, sportsmanship and team work. Come and join the fun, make new friends, and find a new sport to conquer. Games and practices are held at local fields, allowing players to sign up at a nearby location.

Basketball
Basketball is a great sport that promotes exercise, team play and sportsmanship. Everyone is encouraged to join this exciting sport and have a good time. Activities range from leagues, women's, men's, and wheelchair basketball programs throughout the City of Oakland. Dates and locations for practice and match games will be set for each activity.

Flag Football
Flag football provides a safe, low contact, and high adrenaline environment for players. Games normally run September ~ November and are setup for men and women. This allows the participants to learn the rules and play the game in no time at all. Bring the excitement to the field for staying healthy.

Softball
Team up with Parks and Recreation Sports Department to play some softball. Where players will band together to play against one another. There are three different leagues for the softball season, men's, women's and co-recreation. Within each league, there are different ability levels. Practice and games occur after normal business hours and or on weekends.

Volleyball
Cooperation and teamwork are the essentials that make a great team. Apply these essentials to volleyball with a dash fun and you have a great game. Leagues, men's, women's, and reverse co-rec activities run September ~ March for all participants. Everyone is encouraged to bring their game. Dates and locations for practices and matches will be determined with each program.
