The Sports Department programs youth sports activities to provide a safe, fun, and family oriented environment on the field. Games and practices are played at local fields throughout Oakland to allow registration and participation in neighboring fields. Call today for more information, (510) 238-PARK.

Baseball runs from July ~ August
with T-Ball, Young America, and Junior Giants Baseball. Participants will learn the fundamentals of baseball using a tee and a "soft" ball in T-Ball. T-Ball is a wonderful program for the youngsters who are building their skills and abilities on the field. Players will enjoy the safe and friendly environment where they can play with new and old friends. Teams typically practice two afternoons a week and play once a week on scheduled days. Regardless of ability, everyone will be assigned to a team and have the opportunity to play.

Junior Giants Baseball Baseball Program is an instructional and competitive league that includes T-Ball, T-Shirt and Uniform leagues, free of charge. This innovative program provides an opportunity for boys and girls between the ages of 5 ~ 18, to learn and develop their skills in baseball. Teams are welcome to be apart of the league. Gloves will be provided.

Basketball runs from December ~ March and June ~ August
The basketball program provides children and youth a healthy and fun opportunity to participate in comprehensive basketball leagues. Our leagues will give the participants an opportunity to focus their energy and skills on playing basketball. Teamwork on the court provides a wonderful experience for any youth to be a part of a team environment where team spirit, communications, and cooperation are all needed to play the game.

Oakland Neighborhood Basketball League (ONBL) provides children and youth the opportunity to participate in competitive basketball leagues. There are 6 different divisions that are broken down according to age (6 ~ 8, 8 ~ 10, 10 ~ 12, 12 ~ 14, 14 ~ 16, and 16 ~ 18) and gender. These leagues give the youth the chance to focus their energy and skills on a sport they love to watch and play. Players will be placed on teams that will play and practice at participating recreation centers, schools and sites. Teams play two games a week with a total of 10 games. At the end of the season a single elimination competition will determine the best team of the league. Games will be held at recreation centers and local high school gyms.

Football runs April ~ June
The football programs provide youth a basic understanding and skills necessary to play the game of football. The participating youth will learn basic skills to execute team strategies and a comprehensive overview of the intricacies of football. Football also helps develop self-esteem and self-confidence as well as football techniques and fundamentals in a safe and fun environment.

Soccer runs April ~ June
The Soccer Programs are designed specifically for the children to learn and grow while playing. With activities setup for the younger children to participate and play in the game too! Participants will enjoy teaming up friends also signed up or making new ones. Basic soccer techniques will be demonstrated. Good sportsmanship and fun will be emphasized to all players. All levels are welcome and encouraged to participate in this fun and energetic program.

Softball runs April ~ June
Softball programs are fun and exciting for all participants. Providing the players with a good structure including everything from good health to taking responsibilities for themselves. With the aide of coaches and parents teaching the players to play their best and most importantly have fun.

The teams will work on individual player's skills for playing the games. Allowing each player to build on their weak points and improving on their strong points. Along with individual goals the players are taught to work and play together to build their communication and teamwork skills. Teams will practice two days a week. Games are set for one scheduled day a week.

Volleyball runs January ~ March
Volleyball practice provides all players with basic skills and routines that will help improve their game. Practicing will aide their abilities in teamwork, communication, to score for their team. Basic skills and fun are the essentials for players to enjoy the sport. Game play is quick and action packed so keep your eyes peeled.
