The City has completed updating the zoning regulations for some areas, including the city’s industrial and open space areas, as well as areas at the edges of the city’s industrial areas, in which a mix of housing and businesses are allowed. Zoning for the downtown area or “Central Business District” was initiated in 2007 and is currently being considered by the Zoning Update Committee of the Planning Commission.
The process to update the City’s residential and commercial/corridor zoning was initiated in Sept./Oct. 2008, starting with two community meetings to kick-off the effort—see details below.
